PHL Web

Your 5250 screens become real web applications

A 100% web interface, nothing to install on user workstations, and no PHP, CSS or HTML skills required from your developers. Your RPG programs keep driving the dialogue: it’s the interface that changes, not your business logic.

Key features

What PHL Web can do

Three levels of conversion

Basic conversion: function keys become buttons. Extended conversion: drop-down lists, column sorting, scroll bar. Reworked conversion with PHL Studio: screens are enriched to offer the user experience of a web application.

Your existing screens carried over

Conversion starts from your DDS files. Row/column coordinates become pixel X/Y positions, and conversion rules let you process a whole set of screens in batch rather than one by one.

Form-style screens

Text and image buttons, selection lists, date field with calendar in a format independent of the RPG, input checks, tab panels: a green screen becomes a real form.

Full-featured subfiles

Variable titles and columns, pagination bar with text search, opening a form from a row, action icons, context menu, drag and drop, and sending an e-mail from a row.

Built-in Excel export

Users export their selection or the entire subfile to Excel, without a single line of RPG development.

SQL-driven selections

Five types of selection, from a static drop-down list to a dynamic field fed by a query. Beyond 25 choices, you switch to dynamic: the rule is documented, not left to guesswork.

Event-driven programming

Click, right-click, drag and drop, change of focus, style or value, alert and confirmation messages, IBM i program calls — all of which can be factored into reusable functions.

Your developers stay in control

WYSIWYG design in PHL Studio, RPG program templates provided for forms and subfiles, and three days of training to get started.
