PHL Exchange

Your data exchanges, structured and generated for you

Writing a flow parser in RPG seems the natural route: in practice it is slow and fragile. PHL Exchange generates these programs for you and replaces your flat files with structured formats that the rest of your information system can read.

Key features

What PHL Exchange can do

Automatic parser generation

Programs that parse XML or JSON flows are generated. You don’t write a parser, and you don’t need in-depth knowledge of the syntax.

EDI mode, in a single module

In batch, a program turns XML or JSON files into DB2 for i files and vice versa. What sets it apart: the parser and the processing are combined in a single module, whereas traditional EDI works in separate steps.

Web services mode

PHL Exchange generates a server program, a client program, or both. The server receives and processes requests; the client sends requests and processes the responses.

SOAP mode

A variant of web services mode based on the SOAP protocol, for partners and customers that still require it.

Transfer automation

A robot handles the automatic receipt and sending of files over FTP. The modular design lets you replace it with your own automation tool, or manage transfers yourself.

Special characters handled

Encoding of special characters, often overlooked and the leading cause of rejected flows, is handled automatically.

Graphical development studio

Design takes place in PHL Studio, shared across the whole suite: graphical and text views of the flows, and a macro language to define the rules the programs must apply.
